I’m a London-based artist currently working primarily with abstract painting.
Inspiration is drawn from both physical and ephemeral spaces – natural spaces and how light changes visual relationships; Man-made structures and how natural elements intervene, but also dreams, memories and emotional responses drawn from somatic therapeutic practice – a process used to visual embodied emotion.
My process starts with certain constraints with colour and form, leading to devised colour relationships, structure versus flow, construction marks alongside shallow layering techniques to evoke space, movement and emotional resonance.
When a dialogue with the painting begins, giving a sense that it is creating itself, I know I’m onto something interesting.
